NEW POLL SHOWS SHIFT IN FOCUS OF CONSERVATIVES, BUT LEAVES OUT NATIONAL DEFENSE?

Updated: Dec 1, 2023

The American Compass Poll Conducted in Late August Found Social Issues Have Moved to the Top of Republican Concerns over the last few years.

At a high level the poll shows that less Republican stress old right issues such as less taxes and no longer believe that what's good for Corporate America is necessarily good for America in general. The old right also tended to oppose tariffs on Chinese goods in the belief it caused prices to increase and the mistaken belief that trade with China was "free trade."

In sharp contrast, social issues such as transgenderism, critical race theory, and “wokeness” top the charts for new right voters.

The poll shows that roughly 40 percent of GOP voters are new right, 30 percent are old right and the remaining 30 percent fall somewhere in the middle.

The poll provides some very interesting results, but it would be more complete and provide better insight if it covered national defense related issues that are very important to the old right and I suspect would also be rated highly by the new right.
